Day twelve, and our last campsite move. It was a very full day, despite spending a few hours in the car. Here's what we did:
Our first stop on our way to the last campsite was a log slide (a big sand dune). This one was probably three quarters of the size of Sleeping Bear Dunes. It was also on Lake Superior, instead of Lake Michigan. It was very pretty. The water was so clear, but the photos don't do it justice. After playing on the log slide for a bit, it was discovered that there was a ton of poison ivy growing all over it. My dad and I are very allergic, but no one else in the family ever gets it. Thankfully, I hadn't really been climbing in it very much, considering the sand is more fun. We have grass in Tennessee, after all. Here is a photo I took from the top of the log slide:
Here is some Queen Anne's Lace. This was from the short time I was around the poison ivy.
Once we got to the car, we used some Clorox wipes to clean off, in an attempt to NOT get poison ivy rashes. Not sure that was a great idea, but it didn't bother my skin, so I guess we're alright. However, I don't recommend it as a way to prevent poison ivy.
Our final campsite was nice and large. The best part was the fact that they had bathrooms! Yes, we were all pretty happy about that. So after taking the below picture of the camper before it was set up, I escaped the work by exploring the bathrooms and showers. Yeah, I'm a little weird, but I was happy.
After set-up was finished and everyone had cleaned up, we visited the upper and lower Tahquamenon Falls. I wasn't incredibly impressed by the lower falls, so I haven't posted any photos of them. But here is the upper falls:
After dinner, we went to see the sunset at a lighthouse. We'd seen a photo of it on the back of a guide book and my mom had found directions to it. In the directions, it mentioned that it wasn't a good idea to stay after dark because the dirt roads were so confusing after dark. We disregarded those instructions and stayed until well after dark. And we had no problem getting back to our campsite. Here's a photo of my brothers and I at the lighthouse:
Overall, it was a very good day and I liked getting shots of the lighthouse. The boys had a great time climbing up and down the lighthouse. Once we got back to the campsite, we were all very ready to go to bed.
