Moving into Milligan (and an explanation of the new blog title)

I am now officially a freshman at Milligan College. I moved into the dorm yesterday morning. It's a nice dorm with the exception that we have no air conditioning. We are trying to keep it cool by using a few fans, but in the afternoon it gets pretty stuffy.

Moving in was pretty easy as I didn't have to bring nearly everything I own because I can always go home and get it when the season is right for it. My dad did end up taking the vehicle that I had packed half of my things in to breakfast with a friend, so I had to pack the other half in another car and wait until my dad finished breakfast and arrived at Milligan to actually set all my things in order. I didn't really mind though, because while everyone else was running around doing things, I got to visit with my roommate and her family as well as my long-time friend, Tess. That was a lot of fun.

Once I got all my stuff up to the dorm, it was pretty easy to get things put away. Then I visited the bookstore and bought the three books I hadn't been able to purchase via Amazon.

So far, I think it is actually alright compared to what I've heard/seen of other dorms. I have my own desk, chair,  and closet. My roommate (you'll probably hear a lot about her...another post soon) kindly brought a microwave and a fridge, so we've already got our stashes of yummy favorites in our room. We share our small bathroom with the two girls (Veronica and Caitlyn) in the dorm next to us, but compared to the bathrooms we were using out camping in Michigan, this is pretty nice.

In the evening, after moving into my dorm room and visiting with a bunch of friends and making new ones, we went through what is called "Matriculation." It sounds bad, but I promise it isn't. The whole program is basically all the freshmen officially signing into Milligan by putting their signatures on these pieces of paper with all the faculty, staff, and family members watching. I was a little worried that I would get up and forget how my name was spelled or something. Thankfully, that didn't happen.

So, now my explanation of the new blog title: Barely Rational. If you know me very well, you know that I'm...weird. I like math (most of the time) and often tell math related puns. When I found out that I would be living in room number 313 I was very disappointed. I had really wanted 314 so that it would be like pi: 3.14..... Then my mom pointed out that pi wasn't rational, whereas 313 would definitely be rational. In light of all that, my blog is now titled Barely Rational. Hopefully you now understand what my reasoning is.

Now I'll end my post with some photos of my room and other such random stuff:
